It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gerald DiGiovanni (Jerry), on March 20, 2024. Jerry was 86, and while he lived most of his life in Bremerton, WA., he grew up in Kalispell, MT, which is where he met and married in 1957 his high school sweetheart, Charlotte DiGiovanni. Jerry’s 35-year career with the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard began as an apprentice welder in shop 26 culminating in his final promotion to Shop 300 Operations Manager. After his career, his “fun” retirement work included; income tax preparation at H&R block, driving school instructor, Seattle Mariners (seat host), and umpiring and refereeing youth league sports, including football and basketball, and his favorite, baseball and softball. Jerry was a 2017 inductee into the Kitsap Sports Hall of Fame and was awarded the Dick Todd award in recognition of his contribution and enormous impact with youth in sports throughout Kitsap County. While nothing was more important to Jerry than spending time with his family and friends, in his spare time he liked to golf and in younger years snow ski, bowl and play softball. Jerry is survived by Charlotte, his wife of 66 years, along with their children; Ray (Sue), Donna (Dan), Vern (Shannon), Connie (Tom) and John (Chris). As well as his 18 grand kids and 22 great grand kids. Services will be held on Thursday April 25th, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Bremerton, WA., where Jerry was a longtime parishioner and volunteer of Ministry to the Homebound and Perpetual Adoration. Services will include a Rosary at 10:30 AM, Mass at 11:00 AM and a reception to follow immediately after.
