Car rolling backward kills driver on Bainbridge Island

An 80-year-old man from Arizona was killed by his own vehicle on Tuesday morning on Bainbridge Island.

According to a report from the Bainbridge Island Police Department, Ronald Klingler had stopped his car on Baker Hill Road before 9 a.m. After stepping out of the vehicle, it began rolling backward and struck Klingler. The vehicle continued rolling into a ditch at the intersection of Baker Hill Road and Crystal Springs. A passenger that remained in the car was uninjured.

Medical personnel responded and took Klingler from the scene, and he died later from his injuries, according to the Bainbridge Island Police Department.
