Five, including baby, sent to hospital after head-on wreck
Five people were sent to the hospital Sunday night, including one infant, after a head-on collision involving two vehicles in North Kitsap, and the driver of one car was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular assault.
A 39-year-old man from Poulsbo was driving northbound on Highway 3 around 6:30 p.m. when he swerved out of his lane near the intersection with Thompson Road, just north of Poulsbo, and hit a car traveling southbound in the opposite lane. He struck the front driver's side of the oncoming vehicle and spun to a rest facing the opposite direction in the center turn lane, according to a report from the Washington State Patrol.
Three people were in the incoming car, one of them an infant. A 29-year-old woman from Puyallup, a 34-year-old man from Ravensdale, and a 15-month-old child were sent by aid to St. Michael Medical Center. The 39-year-old had a passenger in his car, a 33-year-old woman from Seattle, who was sent to St. Michael as well.
The 39-year-old driver was taken by an ambulance to St. Michael before being sent to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Tacoma.
