Highway 3 was closed for more than three hours late Thursday after a suspected DUI crash.

A 67-year-old Skokomish man was driving south on Highway 3 near Grapeview just after 10 p.m., according to a report from Washington State Patrol. When the vehicle in front of him, a Dodge Ram truck carrying a family of four from Belfair, slowed to take a left turn, the 67-year-old driver attempted to pass on the left. The 67-year-old's Nissan Altima struck the truck, and both vehicles came to rest in the northbound lane.

The driver of the Nissan was not injured, but after WSP troopers arrived he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, improper passing and may face a charge of vehicular assault, according to the WSP memo. The driver of the truck, a 53-year-old man, was treated for injuries at the scene. The other passengers, all of whom wore seat belts, were not injured.

The highway was blocked for more than 3 hours, according to WSP.
