Whatever happened to national defense?

During my 45 years as a registered Republican, the party worked for a strong national defense, including a tight security apparatus.

Today, Republicans are in thrall to a candidate who mishandles secret information, disparages NATO, and bows to Russia's Putin. What a sorry transformation!
