Over six years ago the local business networking group Bainbridge Business Connection helped incubate the Island’s first coworking community, OfficeXpats. At that time OfficeXpats owner Leslie Schneider was instrumental in encouraging and nurturing the original idea of Accelerate Kitsap.

XLR8 started as a non-profit organization on September 1st, 2012, with the following vision statement: “Accelerate Kitsap is a group of experienced business and professional people working to help entrepreneurs take their companies to the next level.”

In its infancy, within the first six months XLR8 had 10 client companies in the concept stage, start-up stage, or expansion stage, both for-profit and non-profits. As first board chair and original visionary Ken Sethney put it, “We volunteer our time to serve as business mentors; we share what we’ve learned – successes and failures; and we serve our community by helping its businesses grow. Concept stage and nonprofit companies are hosted by Accelerate Kitsap or sponsored by local companies and individual donors.”

Today XLR8 Kitsap and OfficeXpats are partners in helping grow and nurture the business future of Kitsap County and the West Sound.
